Working With The YMCA

So the first thing I thought about when the YMCA approached me to help them on a project, was this...

Such an old cliche... I just can't help buy hear the "YMCA" song in my head whenever someone mentions the name to me. As many of you will know however, the YMCA have evolved a huge amount since their early days of being youth hostels. Whilst living on the Fylde coast, I used the YMCA facilities a lot with my young family, and also noticed just how much they involved themselves in the local community. They certainly do a lot to "give back" to the communities they serve, and definitely do command a lot of respect.

When they approached me to help them create some promotional media (photography and videography) for several of their sites across the Fylde and Lake District, I was really excited to be able to help them out. With them being a charity, and a local one to me, I was very conscious that they constantly need to raise funds, and that their money is very precious to them. I thus cut my rates to as low as physically possible in order to give them the results they wanted, whilst still being able to cover my basic costs for production. This was my way of helping them out, and giving back to local charities that I support whole heatedly.

The sites we filmed and photographed were Lytham, Fleetwood, Thornton and Lakeside (Newby Bridge, Cumbria). Here's some of the videos...
